There are many different types of abortion. Abortions date back to 500 B.C. One of the first recorded abortions were for the royal men’s mistresses in China. Women who committed adultery often came to the conclusion of having an abortion. Egypt was also known to have one of the first known abortions. Christians approved abortions until the 18th to 19th centuries.
Christians thought abortions were acceptable until the mother could feel the fetus kicking. The term for when the woman has reached this point in her pregnancy is called quickening (Nordqvist). The origin of the word abortion comes from the Latin language
(Nordqvist). In the 19th century, an abortion was not a well educated procedure for doctors. Most methods

During the first three months of a woman’s pregnancy is when the baby is usually aborted. There are some occasions where abortions are performed after the first trimester of pregnancy.
The two main types of abortion are surgically and medically induced.
Both procedures are proven 97 to 100 percent effective. Both have serious repercussions though.
Medically induced abortion can only be used within the first trimester of pregnancy. Many women are given Mifeprex, which stops an important hormone, progesterone, used while pregnant. After this procedure the woman feels like they are having a horrible menstrual period. Intense cramping and diarrhea happens also. If this method does not work, women resort to surgical methods (“Ending Your
Pregnancy”).
When a surgical abortion is performed, the doctor removes the lining of the uterus. The most popular surgical techniques are manual vacuum aspiration and dilatation and suction curettage. D & X is another term for Dilatation and Extraction. An abortion process that uses salt water, potassium chloride, and urea is called an Induction
Abortion. This is basically inducing a miscarriage. This process is also expected to cause menstrual like sensations (“Types of Abortion
