There are many issues/ situations that affect one 's satisfaction with their job. Figure 10.1 shows that antecedent influence the levels of job satisfaction and commitment in our personal predispositions to be satisfied. Individual different theory states that some variability in job satisfaction is due to an individual’s personal tendency across situations to enjoy what he or she does.
There has been research on what individual differences affect job satisfaction. This research includes genetic predisposition, core self-evaluations, and satisfaction with life. In one study, 30% of job satisfaction appear to be explainable from genetics (p. 362) it has been said that traits such as negative affectivity is related to the tendency to be satisfied with a job. Core self-evaluations or certain types of personalities associated with the tendency to be satisfied or dissatisfied with the job. Judge, lock, and or Durham had come to the conclusion that four personality variables are related to people’s predispositions to be satisfied with not only their jobs but also their life. These predispositions or emotional stability, self-esteem, self-efficiency, and internal locus of control. Internal locus of control is the extent to which people believe that they are responsible for it in control of their success or failure in life.
