Executive Summary Target is one of the largest retailers in the United States. Target wants to be able to give guests better quality products for a cheaper price. They also want to be the one stop shop. Target relies on their team members to keep

The CEO of Target started as a cart attendant and worked his way up to being the president and CEO of the company. Half of the high up executives have worked themselves up from just being regular team members to what they are today. Target strives on not only training but development as well. They love hearing from other leaders that team members are showing great quality and think they need something more. Target believes in mentoring for team members and team leads as well so they have someone to look up to and can learn everything they need.
The Human resources executive at target will hold individual meetings with team members and team leads to talk about opportunities that they can work on to better themselves and help them move up within the company. For team members they like to see them take charge of situations and do things because they saw they needed to be done and not because they were asked to do them. For example, Maggie from revisions was doing her daily tasks and noticed that electronics had guests waiting to be helped. She just went and helped them and didn’t wait for the electronics team member to hit the back up button. Whenever she finds clearance that was not marked when doing her revisions she doesn’t just give the product to the price change team she marks it herself and puts it in the appropriate spot for that merchandise.
